Beautiful sunshine welcomed Two Fast on Friday evening as the race towards Tallinna was starting west of Melkki. The wind was blowing around 12-14 knots from SW and as the crew for this race is from the light side, Two Fast was tilting quite much. I wonder who had the responsibility to wash the bottom of the boat?

Two Fast passing Ystad in Southern Sweden
The journey has progressed as planned and Two Fast is currently outside of Ystad.
Last night we got rain! Not enough to wet the whole deck, but it was raining .. The wind was from head all the evening and night and we had to tack few times.
Sun is now Wed morning shining +25, wind SE 6 knts and the sails help Volvo for the 7 knts speed.
As Janne was asking a glass of wine from Skipper, Kimmo looked at his watch and said it's 1012 but as Kimmo's watch was set to millibars, all the crew got 8 cl of red wine.

Two Fast preparing for Gotland Runt 2010
After the Suursaari Race the crew of Two Fast has been preparing themselves for the year's main event Gotland Runt (GR) July 7-10, 2010.
The preparations have gone according to the plan and the crew will switch Two Fast from cruising to racing mode in Hanko harbour during Saturday July 3rd, where also the security inspection for the GR will take place.
Two Fast is a defending the last years victory of the GR pre-race Hanko-Sandhamn both in ORCi & IRC classes and the competition again this year will be very tough.
The weather forecast looks promising, plenty of sunshine and 8-15 knts wind from S-SW. If the forecast remains the same, the international fans of Two Fast will see Two Fast mooring in Sandhamn harbour early on Monday morning.

Two Fast rounding Suursaari
08:30 Update: Two Fast is approaching Kotka mark in 12 knts SE wind and is starting to round Suursaari soon. The night has been warm and the crew has had a good spirit all night long, even other boats have not been seen much due to fog.
09:30 Update: Two Fast passed the Kotka mark at 09:03 followed by Premium (X-41).
11:00 Update: Two Fast is currently east side of Suursaari and sailing around 8 knts. Luna is about 3 miles ahead. The crew is preparing the heavy sails due to expected heavy wind (25-30 knts) later during Saturday.
13:15 Update: Two Fast returned back to Kotka mark at 13:03. Wind is really high and tops upto 40 knts.
14:00 Update: Bad news.... we need to withdraw from the race as our main sail broke. One of the batten pockets got damaged, we lost a batten and the sail ripped off.

Tuesday Meeting Jun 8th, 2010
Another promising evening for sailing as we left the harbour. Sun was shining and SE wind was about 6-8 knts.
We got a good start and noticed immediately that the boat speed that we missed during the earlier weekend had returned and during the short crosswind leg we managed to keep the same pace as Lexus, who dominated the races over the earlier weekend.
After the first turn, on the downwind leg we missed our leading position as we were struggling to get our spinnaker to pull, however we managed to gain the leading position again soon after. After that the wind died totally and after "sailed" about 1 mile in 2 hours we pulled off and start the engine in leading position.
No boats finally finished the race.

WB Sails Round the Buoys, Jun 6th
Perfect day for the sailing even the wind was light again (6-10 knts).
Maybe the graduation parties a night earlier were still in the minds of the crew as the day wasn't that succesful... or was the reason the set of sails (main & jib) that were tested on this race. We definately missed the boat speed we used to have.
Not much to tell to the children after this race, however the results can be found from here IRC1 and ORC1.
As we returned back to the harbour, the decision was made to pack the tested main and jib and send them back to storage room. Will they turn to be fashioned TwoFastHandBags, time will tell...

The first Tuesday meeting attended by Two Fast this season was sailed in light winds.
